Thursday Morning – Part 2 – Walkies
Well, life has to go on, I can’t mope and sit around sniffing slippers and dirty socks wondering when he’s going to come home again, so we got our walking kit on and off we went. But, hey, what’s that I hear? It’s the hound dogs again.. they were sitting across the other side of the main road waiting to cross and come down the lane.
It’s a bit fuzzy because mum was in a hurry as we had to hot foot it down the lane and round the corner so I could watch them go by.. we watched from the school gate.
And all too soon they were gone.. all off on their walk with their long waggy tails. They have 2 men on bicycles and someone else on a horse to keep an eye on them but they’re all really well behaved.
So, off we went for our walk too.. we walked up through the wheat field..
There seemed to be some big dark clouds following us, or were they going to go the other way? Rain or no rain mum still wanted to show me all the cobwebs in the wheat, so boring boring boring… if it had been pheasants hiding in the corn it would have been different!
We walked up to Hill Barn where we stopped to play hoopy for a while.. the clouds were getting closer and closer.. so we didn’t stay too long.
It looked like the hounds had been along this way before us which was good, because we didn’t really want to meet them along the narrow track. I’d probably get the urge to bounce around a bit and they’d get told off if they got distracted by me.
We didn’t manage to make it home before the clouds caught up with us.. so we waited a while under the trees until the biggest rain had gone by
and then we walked as quickly as we could back home again in case we got caught in another shower. We could see brightness in the distance so it looked like we might make it without getting too wet.
The sweetcorn will like the rain, it’s been growing really tall just lately. Some of it is a lot taller than mummy and its started to get the hairy corns on it too.. yummy yummy.
It’s funny how there are patches of short corn, these little ones are growing in the shade of a tree and have a long way to go to reach 6 feet tall. They’re a bit like the little foals that we stop to say hello to when we walk by.. they’ve got a lot of growing to do as well.
So.. I wonder how long daddy will be gone for.. he took quite a big bag with him so I guess it’s just mummy and me for a while. On the bright side, I do get to have his side of the bed!!
