Visit to Charborough Park
A couple of weeks ago we went for a walk at Highwood Garden in Charborough Park. They open their gardens every year when the azaleas and rhododendrons are in bloom.
It’s all really lovely and the smell is wonderful.. not as nice as a lovely bit of.. well, perhaps I won’t spoil the flowery theme by going into that now.
Even I enjoyed running through the sweet smells.. it made a change!
We were only there for an hour so we had to do a speed walk round, which suits me just fine.. I do speed walking wherever I go! We walked up through the woods to Charborough Tower where we could look down these steps..
The tower is over 100ft high and you can see it from miles away.
It’s ever so big and tall and very very old… it would be great to be able to go in and walk up all the steps to the top and look out, but we weren’t allowed in. It was built in 1790, there are 161 steps and it’s 420 feet above sea level.. if you would like to read more about it then here is a link to Charborough Estate’s website.
This is another view from the top of the hill
It’s a huge estate and we only walked around a tiny bit of it.
Next year I think we’ll try to go earlier in the day so we can spend a long time walking around everywhere.. and maybe take a picnic.
That’s me sitting on a rustic bench having a little rest…
It’s well worth a visit if you’ve not been yet.
What lovely walkies you had! Dose flowers are so beeootiful!

Thought dogs were not allowed!

We didn’t see any signs that year… and we were awfully late getting there so only had about an hour for a really fast walk around. No one said anything to us about me not being allowed in. We thought we’d go a lot earlier the following year but we saw the no dogs sign… I guess maybe some people have unruly dogs that might chase the deer or humans that won’t pick up poo. It’s a shame because it’s a lovely place for photos and a well behaved dog isn’t going to cause any trouble at all. Thanks for visiting.

Dog’s should always be ‘allowed’ just look at your portrait picture on the bench, talk about “enhancing the environment!”
Of course in the enlightened country I current live in, the Czech Republic, dogs are allowed everywhere, though not in most food shops these days, yesterday I was at the newly named Vaclav Havel Airport and there were two dogs waiting to meet relations, some of which might have been human.
Personally I think the worst type of visitor to almost anywhere are actually the creators of the signs that say ‘Dogs not allowed’ don’t you!
Big purrs,
