RIP Rita the Pig 2004 – 8th February 2011

Rita - December 2009

Rita was a pig, a very nice friendly pig that would always come and say hello if you called her. Today we walked down through Throop and past her field and saw a sign taped to the gate of her field.

Sad Announcement

At the bottom it says that she was nearly seven years of age. So she was only a young pig really, as pigs can live for 15 – 20 years. She was a very generously proportioned pig.. we think she was a Kune Kune pig because of her Piri Piri ‘tassels’ on her chin and she just looked like one.

Rita in her field

She was very snorty and would talk in her pig language when we stopped at the gate to see her.

Me saying hello to Rita

We will miss seeing her when we walk past the field. Here is a little video we took last year of her.

This is one of the last photos we took of her at the end of January. It was getting dark but she was still out and about snuffling around her field.

RIP Rita
