A Walk in the Dark 2012

Tonight was our ‘Walk in the Dark’ – you may remember that last year we did a walk in Shaftesbury – this year we all met at Win Green which is right on top of a big hill, near Ashmore and sort of between Ludwell and Tollard Royal.

As we drove up the track to the car park we could see lots of coloured lights – we weren’t late but everyone had arrived before us!

Bright Lights of Win Green!

There was even a tea table with lots of mugs of lovely hot tea – very kindly provided by @theteastudio

Mug of tea anyone?

After everyone had had enough tea we set off for our Walk In The Dark – all of us doggies were wearing our Leuchtie LED Light Collars – they’re pretty fab and are the best thing to wear when you’re walking in the dark. I also had my hi-viz bandana on and all the humans were wearing hi-viz waistcoats – we were a very bright bunch!

2 giant Irish Wolfhounds!

The Irish Wolfhound girls were wearing lovely red Leuchties – red’s the best colour, mine is red too. They were the biggest walkers and then at the opposite end of the scale we had Bob the Chihuahua who was most definitely the smallest walker!!

Wearing a lovely pink Leuchtie we had Molly the Collie

Jake the black labrador was wearing a very striking blue Leuchtie – which looked gorgeous against his glossy black coat.

We had a fab walk in the dark – we saw some cows hiding in the trees, there were lots of puddles and we all had lots of fun. All too soon we were back at the car park and seeing the welcoming lights of the tea stall!

More tea ?

Everyone was eager to try a nice fresh mug of tea and pick up one of the sample packs of tea leaves to take home. Next year if we have the tea stall again mum has said she’ll bake a cake to take! And if I ask her very nicely she might even bake a pup cake for all of the dogs!

Molly, Bob and tea drinkers!

Well, as you can see, it was a bit difficult taking photographs in the dark but here’s one final picture of Molly who was very happy to pose!

Before I go, I’d just like to woof a big Thank You to Gabriela at Collarways for organising the walk.

This year’s walk was to raise some money for the Search and Rescue Dogs and if you would like to find out more information about them, or would like to donate, you can do so HERE

  1. wow Teagan it looks like you had a fabulous time. loving those leuchties, i wonder if i’m really good whether santa paws might let me have one??

  2. wow teagan that looks like great fun, especially loving them leuchties. wonder if i might get one from santa paws if i’m really good.

    • I think you deserve a Leuchtie collar, they’re really fab and I reckon the pink or orange would look lovely with your fur. Or any other colour of course, they’re all fab. The white ones are super cool. If you go outdoors in the dark you need one and they are just sooo much better than the cheap ones, you can even swim in them! And your humum needs a hi viz too – mine loves hers, she wants a whole coat in it now, not just a waistcoat thing. How embarrassing is that going to be!

  3. Fun, we walk in the dark a lot in the winter time but not with a group – it is kind of scary but exciting too. Good job with the photos, since it was dark I was surprised there were any photos!

    • Yes I’m very glad there were lots of us, it would have been very scary walking with just mum and dad in the dark, especially when we could see the cows by torchlight in the woods! I wouldn’t like to have to walk in the dark every day.

  4. Looks like a lot of fun! I love to walk at night, but would only do so in a large group like that too.

  5. Teagan I didn’t realize it had been a year since your last walk in the dark. Looks like you had a nice turnout and the humans hi-viz tops were great. Hope you all got a good collection for the Medical Detection Dogs. Looks like you had a good time. We always walk in dark (but not thru fields) because its more quiet and wear blinking red lights. Great pics for dark 🙂

    • I know, doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun! This year it was for the Search & Rescue Dogs. We sometimes go for walks where there are streetlights but that’s mostly just for fun, we don’t have streetlights where we live so when it’s dark it’s very very dark and a bit scary!

  6. What an exciting walk! I’m not that keen on walkingi n the dark, I must admit, but I have a blink-y light on my collar when I do…

    • BOL it doesn’t sound like any of us like walking in the dark – it’s better than no walk at all, but I’d much rather go in the day time.

  7. Sorry, I’m a little late reading your post, but the night walk sounds like a great idea. Love all of the pretty collar colors. All furbabies looked so pretty.

    • The collars are my favourite too – I have a red one but I am rather hoping I might get a nice white one as well, or maybe orange… but then again the green is pretty and so is the blue and the pink… gosh, it’s tough being a girl having to make all these fashion choices!
